Commitment Ceremonies....
First of all, yes, I am happy to perform commitment ceremonies. My personal belief is that everyone has the right to be happy and spend their life with the one person that truly understands them, loves them unconditionally, and accepts them as they are. Period. It does not matter the gender, age, religion, ethnicity, etc, etc, of that person. I have always had the personal belief that life is too short to spend it unhappy. I was raised not to judge others - that is not our job here on earth. Christians believe and preach "Judge not that ye be not judged". With that said, no one has the right to pass judgement on anyone else, especially without taking a long, hard look in the mirror and their own broom closet.
Wiccans and Pagans believe "and ye harm none, do as you will". Now, granted, that last one is a lot more complex than it reads, as it is not only speaking of physical harm, but mental and emotional as well. However, it also implies intentional harm. Whom you fall in love with is not intentionally harming someone, nor is wanting to spend the rest of your life with them. Knowing that that person is married to someone else and purposely persuing the relationship anyways, now that could be considered intentional harm.
Okay, enough with my sermon for now, lol.
While it is not legal in most states to perform same sex marriage ceremonies, there is no law concerning commitment ceremonies.
Secondly, yes, there is a difference in the package prices for commitment ceremonies. Seeing as there is no license to fill out, ensure is witnessed properly, and filed, I don't need to charge as much for administrative fees, so I am happy to pass that savings on to you.
Now, some may ask what the difference is between a regular marriage ceremony and a commitment ceremony. The difference is that I am not allowed, according to law, to pronounce the couple as legally married. I can pronounce the couple as partners for life, life partners, etc.
To answer another question, yes, you can use any ceremony I have for your commitment ceremony with me. We simply need to change a few words here and there, customizing it for you. You are also welcome to write your own vows, add in a poem, prayer, blessing, etc just like everyone else is.
